This week has seen our champion A1 Midweek Pennant team head to Moama to represent Ovens and Murray Region in the Champion of State Pennant Competition (Midweek). No-one would ever have expected the cold and wintery conditions they experienced, both players and spectators feeling like they had shifted to Alaska, not just to Moama, New South Wales.

Our team had a great first 4 rounds, defeating West Coast (Warrnambool) 53/28, Central Victoria (Buninyong) 61/26, Central Goulburn Murray (Shepparton Golf) 43/40, and Wimmera (Korong Vale) 70/20. In the 5th round they came up against Peninsula Casey (City of Frankston) and went down 24/39, putting them out of the Grand Final playoff, which that team went on to win. A very creditable 3rd place for Ovens and Murray and YMGCR in a competition of this standing is an amazing result. We are so proud of their effort, and with this experience under their belt, 2019-20 is looking good.
