Weekly Report November 10

Another busy week at YMGCR. It seems that every day saw bowling on our greens, and what a delight it is to see our facilities being so utilised. The weather has not been kind for our Pennant teams, but then, both teams play in the same conditions, and we just have to put our best foot forward, and get on with the job at hand.

Club Events

Men’s Singles Championship is now under way, and winners going forward to date are Garry Sanders, Steve Gann, and Jimmy Le Fevre.

Region/State Singles

Play has begun for both Men and Women in the State Singles. At this stage Claire Sanders and Laureen Smith have both made it through to the semi-final level. Well done, girls.

Victorian Open

Due to the Victorian Open being held from November 15-22, there is no Pennant scheduled for this time. Many of our players are entered, and it is also an opportunity for everyone to witness some great bowling in Shepparton district during this time.

Bloke’s Day

A most successful Bloke’s Day on Oaks Day held last week attracted 60 bowlers from 10 clubs. The day was played with great camaraderie, and President Kerry Kinnane urged all present to take on board the issue of Prostate Cancer in their own health regime.

Overall winners were R Hermassoo (Yarrawonga), M Scown (Rutherglen), and A Vinecombe (Cobram).

Individual Game winners were S Gann (YMGCR), B Evans (YMGCR), and A Goudge (YMGCR).

Major raffle winners … R Brown and G Fisher.

A wonderful $700 was raised for Prostate Cancer.

Congratulations and thanks to all sponsors, organisers, and members who assisted with the running of the day.
