NSW v Victoria Test Series.
Last week we mentioned that Victoria was playing NSW in a Test Series at Warilla Bowling Club on the NSW South Coast. YMGCR were represented by Anne Miles in the Open Ladies Fours and Laureen Smith and Claire Sanders in the Over 60’s Ladies Fours. The Open Vic Women’s Side lost the 5 test series 2 – 3. Despite this result the experience and knowledge gained leading into the upcoming Nationals was invaluable. One game was lost by only one shot which made the series a very hard-fought affair. The last game meant retirement for Anne Miles in the Vic Open Side. Anne will now keep representing Victoria in the over 60’s Vic Side coming up in October. Laureen Smith and Claire Sanders competed in the over 60’s Vic side where the result came down to the wire on the last end and last bowl! Vic and NSW ended up 1.5 games each, the draw being the last game. NSW had to draw with their last bowl to make another shot to win. It did not eventuate, and Victoria were holding one, with one bowl left to play. The Vics decided not to risk it and leave it as a draw to secure the trophy once again. As winners in the last series vs NSW it meant Victoria retained the trophy! Till next week, good bowling!
