YMGCR BOWLS CLUB

Mid – Week Pennant.

YMGCR’s A1 side played host to Benalla and ended the day comfortable winners 83 shots and 12 points to Benalla’s 56 shots and 2 points. Leading the charge for YMGCR were the rink of Ray Brown (L), Robyn Moore (2), Rob Hummel (3) and Julian Jones (S) who won 36 shots to Benalla’s 14 shots. Their score included that rarest of numbers; 8 shots on one end. Also winning well for the home side were the rink of Ian Febey (L), Shirley Hummel (2), Gary Presnell (3) and Ray Irvine (S) who beat their Benalla opponents 28 shots to 20 shots. YMGCR now find themselves mid – table in 4th place on the ladder.

The A2’s was entertained by Club Mulwala, in the local derby and it was the home team who won the day narrowly; Club Mulwala 57 shots and 12 points to YMGCR 54 shots and 2 points. Bringing home 2 valuable points for YMGCR were Tony Durkin (L), Vicki Withers (2), Garry Hart (3) and Allan Goudge (S) who won well 27 shots to 13 shots. YMGCR are now hovering in 7th place on the ladder.

Also visiting Club Mulwala were the A3’s who had a relatively easy day with the final score being YMGCR 67 shots and 13 points to Club Mulwala 44 shots and 1 point. Winning well for the visitors was the rink of Marie Morffew (L), Chris Horne (2), Jan Morton (3) and Ian Morffew (S) 25 shots to Club Mulwala 12 shots. Also bringing home the points for YMGCR in fine style were Ceclia Milne (L), Cathy Spinks (2), Cliff Morton (3) and Danny McNeill (S) who made short work of the opposition 24 shots to 14 shots. The A3’s are now in 5th place on the ladder.

 

Wednesday Social Bowls.

As mid – week pennant was rescheduled to Wednesday, due to the Melbourne Cup, Wednesday Social wasn’t played last week. However, Wednesday Social will resume as usual this week and will continue through the summer months. The Rolling Jackpot is nudging a very healthy $90.00 so why not put your names on the list at the Bowls Office for next week’s game. Visitors are welcome.

 

Weekend Pennant.

YMGCR’s A1 side entertained Benalla at home and were in no mood to play the gracious host, walking away with an all rink winning effort 109 shots and 18 points to Benalla’s 53 shots and 0 points. Pouring cold water on the visitors hopes of an away win was the rink of Michael Vaughan (L), Mal Beer (2), Andy LeFevre (3) and Jim LeFevre (S) who made short work of the opposition 31 shots to 12 shots. Also banking a big win 30 shots to Benalla’s 12 shots were the rink of Ian Febey (L), Greg Green (2), Julian Jones (3) and Garry Sanders (S). YMGCR are now in 3rd spot on the ladder.

YMGCR’s A2 side hosted Mansfield and won 82 shots and 17 points to Mansfield’s 75 shots and 1 point. This latest win now finds the A2’s in 3rd spot on the ladder. Doug Wheeler (L), Les Wilson (2), Vic Brincat (3) and Neil Loveridge (S), secured a rink win for the home side 22 shots to 18 shots. After a close tussle with their opponents the rink of Rhonda Irvine (L), Trevor Kilpatrick (2), Kerry Kinane (3) and Rob Lidgerwood (S), won the day 23 shots to Mansfield’s 21 shots.

The A4’s also played host to Benalla and in an almost carbon copy of what the A1’s achieved they beat Benalla without raising a sweat. YMGCR 96 shots and 18 points to Benalla’s 63 shots and 0 points. Winning with a leg in the air, for YMGCR, was the combination of Marie Morffew (L), Mary Essex (2), Liliana Borwick (3) and Ian Morffew (S), 29 shots to Benalla’s 12 shots. After this commendable win YMGCR are now in 2nd spot on the ladder.

Our B2 side travelled to Tungamah where the hosts won 67 shots and 12 points to YMGCR’s 54 shots and 2 points. The B2’s now find themselves precariously in 8th place on the ladder. Bringing home 2 very valuable points for YMGCR was the rink of Carolyn Boston (L), Bill Hidson (2), Terry Baxter (3) and Noel Millar (S) who won against their opponents, by the narrowest of margins 23 shots to 22 shots.
