Wednesday Social Bowls Report.
Last Wednesday, the 11th of June saw 28 bowlers turn out for the weekly game of 3 bowl nominated pairs. As we have become used to, the greens were running freely. The winners of first prize, which was a drink card and $40.00 each were Col Withers and Trevor Kilpatrick. The second winning rink prize of $60.00 was shared by Greg Green and Andy LeFevre. The losing rink consolation prize was shared by the team of Michael Szabo and Phil Pettit who won $40.00. Michael Szabo stepped forward again, to claim the first Lucky Number prize of $20.00 and the second Lucky Number prize of $10.00 was won by Mick Reilly.
Friday Social Bowls Report.
An almost record turnout of 48 players enjoyed the fine winter weather and well presented greens last Friday the 13th of June. Friday the 13th was anything but unlucky for the team of Andy LeFevre and Doug McTier who shared the first prize of $170.00. The second winning rink prize was shared by the team of Susan Beca and Garry Seamer who took home $60.00 each. The losing rink consolation prize was won by Norm Windebank and Barb Tennyson who home $35.00 each. The first Lucky Number prize of a drink card and $25.00 was won by Chris Horne. The second Lucky number prize of $20.00 was won by Steve Day.
Sunday Funday Social Bowls.
YMGCR Bowls Section have had a large number of novice bowlers join us since the completion of the 2024 / 2025. As a way of introducing our new bowlers to our established and experienced bowlers, the Bowls Section are introducing Sunday Funday Bowls. Our new bowlers will be teamed up with our experienced players for a game of pairs, where our established bowlers will show our new players the basics of competitive bowls. This should give our new players at head start when it comes to commencement of the new pennant season. The Sunday Fundays are single entry, and the competition commences on Sunday the 22nd of June, at 1.00 pm and the games are played through to the bell, at 3.00pm. The cost per player is $5.00. There will be spot prizes awarded for the next resting toucher, a draw to the spider etc. There will be prizes awarded for the winning rink and the runners up rink. Entry sheets are now up on the Notice Boards at the Bowls Office. The Sunday Fundays should be a winning concept, why not come along and enjoy some great bowls with a chance to meet our new players and win some great prizes. Until next week, good bowling.
