WEEKLY REPORT 27th July 2025

YMGCR Bowls Club.

Wednesday Social Bowls Report.

28 players presented for Social Bowls last Wednesday, the 23rd of July. Considering the changeable weather that we have been experiencing lately, that indeed wasn’t a bad turnout. Sharing first prize of $80.00 and a drink card each were the team of Sue Evans and Bryan Dickinson. The second winning rink prize of $60.00 was shared by the combo of Doug McTier and Noel Smith. The lucky losing rink prize of $30.00 was shared by the pairing of Judy Leeson and Allan Goudge. The first Lucky Number prize of $15.00 was won by Greg Fisher and the second Lucky Number prize of $10.00 was also won by Greg Fisher; well done and won Greg.

Friday Social Bowls Report.

Colder weather saw a lighter than usual muster of 28 bowlers for Social Bowls last Friday. The ditch backing replacement project may also have placed a limit on the number of bowlers able to play. Sharing first prize were Peter McKay and Wayne Barnes who won $100.00. The second prize of $60.00 was shared by Gary Lovell and Ken Smith. The lucky losing rink prize of $40.00 was shared by Saskia Vogels and Ray Brown. The first Lucky Number prize of $20.00 and a drink card was won by Shane Maddox, and the second Lucky Number prize of $15.00 was won by Norm Windebank.

Sunday Funday Social Bowls.

Due to Sunday’s inclement weather, the organisers cancelled Sunday Funday Social Bowls. Weather allowing, there will be Sunday Funday being held this coming Sunday the 3rd of August. Entry sheets are up on the Notice Board at the Bowls Office. The cost of entry is $5.00 per player. The concept is all about blending our new bowlers with our experienced players for a game of Social Bowls that introduces the new bowlers to the rudiments of the game all while having a fun, yet competitive game of bowls. There are Lucky Number raffle prizes and a draw to the spider comp for both the new players and experienced bowlers, and drink vouchers for toucher bowls. Why not come along and meet our new bowlers and have a great game of bowls.

Ditch backing and green bank capping replacement.

The ditch backing and green bank capping replacement program has now been completed, and I’m sure all YMGCR bowlers will agree that the results look terrific. To Kerry Kinnane, Chris Burgess and his staff and YMGCR, thank you for arranging for the works to be carried out; the result looks great. Until next week, good bowling.
