Wednesday Social Bowls Report.
Last Wednesday saw 32 players present for the weekly game of nominated 3 bowls pairs played over 22 ends. As has been the formula all winter the greens were in pristine condition and running well. Even drawing and free running greens should be conducive to good bowls and this was the case last week. Finding the conditions to their liking, and sharing the first place prize of $100.00 and a drink card each were Allan Goudge and Michael Szabo. The second winning rink prize was claimed by the team of Noel Millar and Fred Donaldson who shared $60.00. The losing rink consolation prize was won by the pairing of Brad and Kurt Bleckwehl who shared $40.00. The first Lucky Number prize of $15.00 was won by Barb Tennyson and the second Lucky Number prize of $10.00 was won by David Irvine. The Wednesday Social Bowls organisers are considering moving the game to another day of the week, during the pennant season, to allow a bit more space between mid-week pennant, social bowls and weekend pennant. Norm Windebank and Gavin Borwick are surveying Wednesday Social Bowlers as to their preferred day of the week, so seek out Norm and Gavin and let them know your thoughts on your preferred day for social bowls.
Friday Social Bowls Report.
Last Friday saw 38 bowlers turn out for social bowls. As with Wednesdays the greens have been really well presented and were running well. Free running even drawing greens will always attract players for social bowls and YMGCR is no exception to the rule. Obviously enjoying the conditions on rink 2 were Greg Fisher and Les Wilson who shared first prize of $120.00. Second prize of $100.00 went to the team of Ian Febey and Bruce Davie, who found the conditions on rink 5 to their liking. The losing rink consolation prize of $60.00 was won by the combo of Barb Tennyson and Norm Windebank. The first Lucky Number raffle prize of a drink card and $25.00 was won by Michael Vaughan and the second Lucky Number raffle prize of $25.00 was won by Dave Charrington.
YMGCR Bowls Opening Day 2025 / 2026 Season.
YMGCR Bowls will be holding their season opening day on Sunday the 14th of September. The day consists of the opening of the green ceremony, commencing at 1.00 pm, followed by a game of social bowls which will finish at 3.00pm. Afternoon tea will then be served in the Willow Room. If you are intending to come along, name sheets are now on the bowls office notice board. Please place your names promptly on the sheets, so as the organisers can finalise the catering details. Partners are most welcome to attend, so if you intend bringing your partner along place their names on the list, with your own. Please be at the club at 12.30pm for a 1.00pm start. There is no cost involved, dress code is club uniform. Until next week, good bowling.
