WEEKLY REPORT 25th August 2025

YMGCR Bowls Club.

Wednesday Social Bowls Report.

32 players turned out last week for Wednesday Social Bowls. Both greens were in play, and the games were played in the east / west orientation. The greens were running freely and setting modesty to one side for a moment, the YMGCR greens have to be the best in the Ovens & Murray Region and would have to be at the top of the tree for greens along the length of the Murray River in Victoria. Finding the conditions to their liking were the team of Norm Windebank and Tony Durkin who finished in first place. Tony and Norm shared$100.00 and a drink card each for their efforts. The second winners prize went to the combo of Greg Green and Andy Lefevre who shared $60.00. The losing rink consolation prize went to the pairing of Robyn Forge and Neville Coleman who shared $40.00. The first Lucky Number prize of $20.00 was won by Les Wilson and the second Lucky Number prize of $10.00 was won by Trevor Kilpatrick.

Wednesday Social Bowls Player Survey Results.

The Wednesday Social Bowls organisers ran a player survey last week asking players would they like a change of day for social bowls during the pennant season. The survey offered two options to players a) stay with Wednesdays or b) move social bowls to a Thursday, allowing a bit more breathing space between mid – week pennant, social bowls and weekend pennant. Thank you to all those bowlers who offered their opinions. However, after a conversation between the match committee and pennant selection committee, it was decided to stay with Wednesdays. Wednesday Social will be continuing through the pennant season, the prize money is well worth the chase, the Lucky Number raffle gives everyone who buys a ticket a chance at some money. The 3 bowl nominated pairs format is a popular game with players. Single entries and visitors are most welcome to play. So, for a great afternoon of bowls place your names on the list at the Bowls Office. Single entries and visitors please add a contact telephone number when placing your names on the entry sheet.

Friday Social Bowls Report.

32 players turned out on Friday for social bowls. Fine weather and free running greens were the order of the day and games, on both greens, were again played in the east / west orientation. Finding the conditions on rink 3 to their liking were Doug McTier and Andy LeFevre who shared first prize of $100.00. Second prize was won by the team of Vicki and Col Withers who blazed a trail to victory on rink 5. Vicki and Col shared $90.00 for their efforts. The losing rink consolation prize was shared by the team of David Irvine and Anthony Clota. David and Anthony took home $20.00 each. The first Lucky Number prize of a drink card and $15.00 was won by Andy Lefvre and the second Lucky Number raffle prize of $15.00 was won by Les Wilson.
