Wednesday Social Bowls Report.
Fine weather last Wednesday saw a turnout of 28 players for the weekly game of 3 bowl nominated pairs played over 22 ends. Games were played in the east west direction and the greens were again, running to the players liking. Finding the conditions conducive to winning form were Les Balfour and Gavin Borwick who won the day and shared first prize of $80.00 and a drink card each. The second winning side was the team of Tony Durkin and Norm Windebank who shared $60.00 The lucky losing rink prize of $30.00 was won by the pairing of Shirley and Rob Hummel. The first Lucky Number raffle prize of $20.00 was won by Bob Brokenshire and the second Lucky Number raffle prize of $10.00 was won by Rob Hummel.
Friday Social Bowls Report.
With surrounding clubs concentrating on preparations for the upcoming pennant season and players thoughts on training and practice matches numbers were light last Friday with 28 players participating in the weekly game of nominated 2 x 4 x 2 pairs. Fine weather greeted the players. Close bowls were the order of the day on rink 2 where the team of Gavin Borwick and Bob Evans strolled to victory, and for their efforts took home first prize of $100.00. Also winning well on rink 1 were the team of Norm Windebank and Barb Tennyson who shared second prize of $60.00. The lucky losing rink consolation prize of $40.00 was shared by the combo of Les Wilson and Noel Millar. The first Lucky Number raffle prize of a drink card and $20.00 was won by Barb Tennyson. The second Lucky Number raffle prize of $10.00 was won by Andy LeFevre. The last day of Friday Social Bowls for this year is being held on Friday the 26th of September, so come along and say farewell to Friday Social Bowls and friends from other clubs until Friday Social resumes next year.
Opening of the Greens for the 2025 / 2026 season.
YMGCR bowlers will be celebrating the new bowling season with their annual opening of the greens ceremony this Sunday, the 14th of September. The greens will be declared open at 1.00pm and will be followed by a game of social bowls, until the bell at 3.00pm Afternoon tea will then be served in the Willow Room. There is no cost for the day, and your significant others are more than welcome to attend. If you are coming along and haven’t already placed your names on the list, at the Bowls Office, please do so early this week to avoid missing out. Those playing are sked to be at the club at 12.30pm, and for bowlers dress is current club uniform. Until next week, good bowling.
