Wednesday Social Bowls Report.
Last Wednesday saw a solid turnout of 36 bowlers for social bowls. Conditions were fine and play, on both greens, was east to west. Winning the day and securing first prize of $100.00 and a drink card each were Kurt and Brad Bleckwehl. Second prize was won by the team of Tony Durkin and a visitor, Micheal O’ Neill, who took home $70.00. The losing rink consolation prize was won by the pairing of Rob Lidgerwood and Les Balfour who won $50.00. The first Lucky Number prize of $20.00 was won by a visitor, Tricia King. The second Lucky Number prize of $15.00 was won by Mick Reilly. Just a reminder that Wednesday Social bowls will be moving to Thursdays, during the pennant season. The move was decided on after consultation with Wednesday social bowlers. The move will allow a bit of breathing space between mid – week pennant, Thursday Social Bowls and weekend pennant. Thursday social bowls commence on October the 2nd. The starting time is still 12.30pm. The format will still be the popular 3 bowl pairs, and the prize money is always some of the best on offer on the social bowls circuit, and don’t forget the Luck Number raffles. Single entry and visiting bowlers are most welcome to play. Visitors and single entries please include a contact telephone number when placing your names on the entry sheets at the bowls office.
Friday Social Bowls Report.
Numbers for Social Bowls were slightly down on recent weeks, with 24 players presenting last Friday the 19th of September. All games were played on the west green and games were played in the east west orientation. Enjoying the conditions on rink 2 were Greg Green and Julian Jones, who claimed first prize after a very competitive game against Noel Millar and Les Wilson. Greg and Julian shared $70.00 for their efforts. Runners up were the combo of Ian Wood and Ros King who shared second prize of $60.00. The losing rink consolation prize went to Les Wilson and Noel Millar who shared $40.00. The first Lucky Number raffle prize of $10.00 and a drink card was won by Michael Szabo. The second Lucky Number prize of $10.00 was won by Bill Jenkins. Just a reminder that next Friday, the 26th of September is the last day of Friday Social Bowls for 2025. Why not come along and play in what should be a fond farewell to another very successful Friday Social bowls season. See you next Friday the 26th!

Last Saturday saw a well fought out pre season practice match against Cobram, at Cobram B.C. This is now a long standing pre season hit out for both clubs and our thanks go to Cobram B.C. for their hospitality and free running greens.
There will be a pre season pennant meeting for YMGCR bowlers being held at the club on Friday, the 3rd of October. The selectors and match committee will discuss a range of topics with bowlers. The meeting commences at 3.00pm and the selectors would ask that all pennant players attend. There will be a BBQ for attendees after the meeting. Why not bring your bowls along and have a roll before the meeting. Until next week, good bowling.
