WEEKLY REPORT 5th October 2025

YMGCR Bowls Club.

Thursday Social Bowls Report.

Last Thursday saw the inaugural week of the move to Thursdays from Wednesdays for Social Bowls. Given the changeable weather, the turnout of 36 players for week one of Thursday Social was an admirable effort. Strong winds and scudding showers saw the players move off the greens more than once. Handling the challenging conditions with aplomb was the team of Karen Bianco and Neville Coleman who shared first prize of $100.00 and a drink card each. Second prize of $70.00 was won by the pairing of Doug McTier and Noel Smith. The losing rink consolation prize went to the team of Liliana Borwick and Vicki Withers, who shared $50.00. The first Lucky Number prize of $20.00 was won by Les Balfour, and the second Lucky Number prize of $10.00 was won by David Irvine.

YMGCR B2 Pennant Side early start to the season.

The B2s started their season a week early where their scheduled round 15 match, against Corowa RSL, to be played at Corowa RSL, was moved forward to last Saturday the 4th of October. The RSL were in no mood to extend the welcome mat to our B2s and consequently made a clean sweep of the fixture. Final scores saw Corowa RSL 78 shots and 14 points defeat YMGCR 56 shots and 0 points. Keeping their Corowa opponents on their toes, all day were the side of Bruce Davie (L), Terry Cartwright (2), Noel Millar (3) and Ron Lamson (S) who went down by a shot, 28 shots to Corowa RSL 29 shots.
