YMGCR Bowls Club.

Mid – Week Pennant Report.

The A1s undertook the road trip to Benalla, last Tuesday, and after the last shot was fired it was YMGCR 79 shots and 14 points to Benalla 35 shots and 0 points. Streeting their opposition 25 shots to Benalla 7 shots were Rhonda Irvine (L), Chris Horne (2), Gary Presnell (3), and Ian Brimblecombe (S). The A1s are in 3rd place on 58 points, and their next assignment is Myrtleford at home.

As with the A1s, the A2s were also on the road last week, travelling to Dederang. And it was the A2s who had a meritorious away victory. Final scores saw YMGCR 62 shots and 12 points to Dederang 41 shots and 2 points. Showing no mercy to their Dederang opponents were Caroline Reilly (L), Vicki Withers (2), Garry Seamer (3), and Greg Fisher (S), who bested their Dederang opposition 24 shots to 9 shots. The A2s are currently in 3rd place on 64 points, and next week, the A2s are at home to Club Mulwala.

The B2s entertained Howlong at the Golf Club, and it was a solid home win for YMGCR. After the 63rd end, it was YMGCR 67 shots and 10 points, defeating Howlong 59 shots and 4 points. Winning as they pleased were Sue Evans (L), Caroline Boston (2), Garry Hart (3), and Vic Brincat (S), who won 30 shots to Howlong 12 shots. The B2s are in 6th place on the ladder, and their next outing sees them undertake the long journey to Lavington.

Weekend Pennant Report.

The A1s played host to Lavington last Saturday and it was a convincing win for YMGCR. The final scores saw YMGCR 89 shots and 14 points to Lavington 65 shots and 4 points. Winning in fine style were Judy Leeson (L), Mick Reilly (2), Michael Vaughan (3), and Ray Irvine (S) who saw off their Lavington opponents 31 shots to 5 shots. The A1s are in 3rd place on the ladder with 84 points. Their next outing is a round 9 away fixture against Yarrawonga under lights, on Friday evening.

The A3s undertook the road trip to Howlong last week and it was a regulation home win for Howlong. Final scores saw Howlong 87 shots and 16 points to YMGCR 71 shots and 2 points. Securing 2 points for YMGCR were Barb Tennyson (L), Bill Jenkins (2), Vic Brincat (3), and Neil Loveridge (S) who had a plucky away rink win beating Howlong 21 shots to 12 shots. The A3s are now 6th place on the ladder on 61 points. Their next outing is a round 9 home game against Swanpool.

The B1s entertained Moyhu, at the Golf Club, last Saturday and after a tight tussle, it was Moyhu who won the day. Final scores saw Moyhu 58 shots and 12 points defeat YMGCR 56 shots and 2 points. Keeping up their end of the contract, and winning well for YMGCR, were Bob Brokenshire (L), Tony Durkin (2), Doug Wheeler (3), and Vicki Withers (S), who won 27 shots to Moyhu 12 shots. The B1s are now in 6th place on the ladder on 36 points. Next week they are away to Moira.

The B2s had a home engagement against Corowa Civic and in a close tussle it was the B2s who won the day. Final scores saw YMGCR 56 shots and 12 points defeat Corowa Civic 54 shots and 2 points. Putting in another solid shift for YMGCR were Neville Coleman (L), Chris Morrissy (2), Terry Cartwright (3), and David Irvine (S), who won 22 shots to Corowa Civic 16 shots. The B2s are now in 4th place on the ladder with 83 points in the bag. Next week they are on the road for a round 9 engagement with Myrtleford.

Thursday Social Bowls Report.

Last Thursday saw a strong turnout of 40 players take advantage of the greens, which were again running well. Play was in the North South orientation, and the weather gods were on the players side with fine weather the order of the day. Winning the day and sharing $100.00 and a drink card each were Vicki and Col Withers. Second place saw Sue Evans and Neville Coleman share $80.00. The losing rink consolation prize of $60.00 went to the team of Bob Brokenshire and Allan Goudge. The first Lucky Number prize of $20.00 went to Ron Lamson. The second Lucky Number prize, also $20.00 was won by Cate Febey. Until next week, good bowling.
