YMGCR BOWLS CLUB

Due to the wet conditions, we had no social bowls last week, but we managed to get our practice game against last year’s 4th position side in the A1’s Benalla.  It was a very good hit out for next week’s opening game against last year’s runners up……Wodonga.  It is important to get a good start against a quality side who have recruited well and we will have to be at our very best to get the victory.

In great news it was fantastic for our champion girls Laureen Smith and Claire Sanders who played for the Victoria Ladies Over 60’s side in the Australian Championship with the girls getting a clean sweep to collect the big prize.  Anne Miles is playing for the Victorian Ladies side.  The team won 4 games, but Anne’s rink were the stars for Victoria winning 6 out of 7.  She will now stay on the Gold Coast and represent Victoria in the mixed pairs with Wangaratta player Ian Brimblecombe.

In our practice game against Benalla one of our TOP lady leads got a bit excited and started to kick the bowls when the 3rds were just about to measure a bowl for the third shot (her little foot casually made contact and the bowl just disappeared back with the rest of the bowls)……we all have a brain fade every so often don’t we Claire.
