YMGCR Bowls Club.
Mid – Week Pennant Semi Final Report.
The A1s played Yarrawonga at Corowa RSL, last Tuesday, and as we mentioned in last weeks article, playing this match at Club Mulwala would have seemed the logical choice of venue, giving both teams supporters and players a venue that is virtually on their door step. This was an anticipated match as it was a semi final and a local derby. After all shots had been played it was YMGCR who prevailed, and they certainly prevailed in style. Final scores were YMGCR 61 shots and 12 points to Yarrawonga 45 shots and 2 points. Winning in fine fettle for YMGCR were Laureen Smith (L), Ray Brown (2), Michael Vaughan (3), and Anne Miles who won 20 shots to Yarrawonga 10 shots. Anchoring the win were Ian Febey (L), Shirley Hummel (2), Gary Presnell (3), and Ray Irvine (S), who won 29 shots to 10 shots. The A1s now shape up to Wodonga at Wangaratta in the Preliminary Final.
The A2s also played a local rival, in their semi final, when they played Club Mulwala at Wangaratta. Having a great home and away season the A2s would have been entitled to be optimistic about their chances going into this game. Regrettably for the A2s the cards did not fall their way. After a match long tussle, the final score saw Club Mulwala 65 shots and 12 points defeat YMGCR 57 shots and 2 points. Winning well for YMGCR were, Sue Evans (L), Vicki Withers (2), Greg Fisher (3), and Kerry Kinnane 25 shots to Club Mulwala 14 shots. The A2s can look back on their season with pride and hopefully use the disappointing semi final result as a spur for next season. Well done one and all on your year.
