Friday Social Bowls Report.

A strong turnout of 44 bowlers participated last Friday the 30th May. The weather was fine, yet cool with both greens running well. It was terrific to see so many bowlers from other clubs participating, and our thanks go to those visitors who help make Friday Social Bowls the success that it has become. The winners were the team of David Haiebich and John Hemphill who shared the first prize of$160.00 . The Runners Up prize of$100.00 was shared by Les Spencer and newly appointed Club Mulwala Bowls Coach Steve Day, congratulations on the appointment Darkie. YMGCR Bowls Section AGM.

YMGCR Bowls Section held their Annual General Meeting on Monday the 26th of May at 7.00pm.  Approximately 40 members turned out on what was a cool evening. As a point of difference, the meeting was held in the YMGCR theatre. President Kerry Kinnane’s report to members was well received, as was Hon. Treasurer Shirley Hummel’s Financial Report. A number of members asked some insightful and relevant questions, which stimulated discussion over a range of issues, pertaining to pennant bowls. It has been a year of achievement for YMGCR Bowls, particularly on the social scene, with the relaunch of the Bowlers Christmas Party, and the End of Pennant Season celebration bash. The Autumn Barefoot Social Bowls Charity Challenge was an unqualified success with usually 80 players participating on Tuesday evenings. As well as being a fund raiser for local charities, there has been a positive spin off with a number of new bowlers joining YMGCR. So, there is a lot to look forward to for the upcoming 2025 / 2026

season. At the conclusion of the meeting all those who attended repaired to the theatre lounge to enjoy a drink and some nibbles. Until next week, good bowling.
