Weekend Pennant Report.

It was a whole new experience for the A1s, when they journeyed to Lavington for the first time. The greens were running freely and the undulating outlook from the greens proved to be a pleasant distraction for players, in between ends. The result was frustratingly close for the YMGCR side, with the win going to Lavington by the narrowest of margins. Final scores saw Lavington 79 shots and 14 points defeat the Golf Club 78 shots and 4 points. Winning in fine style for YMGCR were Chris Horne (L), Ray Brown (2), Colin Withers (3) and Ian Brimblecombe who won 31 shots to 20 shots. The A1s host Yarrawonga at the Golf Club, next Friday evening with the game commencing at 6.00pm.

The A3s hosted Howlong at the Golf Club, and as with the A1s just fell short of victory by the very narrow margin of 2 shots. The final scores saw YMGCR on 78 shots and 2 points to Howlong 80 shots and 16 points. Waving the flag for YMGCR and winning well was the rink of Lynne Baxter(L), Liliana Borwick (2), Anthony Clota (3) and Rob Lidgerwood (S), who beat their Howlong opponents 28 shots to 19 shots. The A3s next assignment is Swanpool at Swanpool.

The B1s also sailed into uncharted territory when they travelled to Moyhu, for the first time, and at the completion of the 84th end it was a clean sweep for Moyhu who won 83 shots and 14 points to YMGCR 42 shots and 0 points. Keeping their Moyhu opposition on their toes all game were Vicki Withers (L), Chris Morrissy (2), Doug Wheeler (3) and Gavin Borwick (S), who went down 13 shots to Moyhu 19 shots. Next week sees the B1s entertain Moira at the Golf Club.

The B2s travelled to Corowa Civic, for their first game of the season, and after a tight tussle it was the home side that won the day. Final scores saw Corowa Civic 65 shots and 12 points defeat YMGCR 56 shots and 2 points. Winning well for the Golf Club were Michelle Thomas (L), Tom Kindred (2), Noel Loft (3) and Les Balfour (S). Who beat their opponents 22 shots to 16 shots. Considering that Michelle, Tom and Noel are all new bowlers, this has to be YMGCRs best rink win for the round. Well done, Michelle, Tom, Noel and Les. Next week the B2s play host to Myrtleford at the Golf Club. Until next week, good bowling.
