WEEKLY REPORT 8th March 2026

YMGCR Bowls Club.

Thursday Social Bowls Report.

36 players turned out last Thursday for Social Bowls. Both greens were in play, and bowlers played in the north – south orientation. As usual, the game was one game of 3 bowl nominated pairs. The greens both ran well, and looking across the rinks there were plenty of close bowls. The winners of first prize were Kurt and Brad Bleckwehl who shared $100.00 and a drink card each. The winners’ runners up prize of $60.00 was shared by Greg Fisher and Les Wilson. The losing rink consolation prize went to Anne Miles and Denise Trubiano who shared $40.00. The first Lucky Number raffle prize of $20.00 was won by Karen Bianco. The second Lucky Number Raffle prize of $10.00 was won by David Carrington. As the Hahn Super Dry Mixed Pairs Tournament is being played next Wednesday and Thursday the 11th and 12th of March there will be no Thursday Social Bowls this week. The following week, Social Bowls will return to Wednesdays on the 18th of March. Starting time will revert to the traditional 12.30pm. The format will remain the same; one game of 3 bowl pairs, the entry fee is still $10.00 per player, and of course, the Lucky Number raffles will still be on offer. Please place your names on the entry sheets at the Bowls Office.

Friday Social Bowls is back!

YMGCR’s ever popular Friday Social Bowls resumes on Friday the 20th of March. The format will be  2 x 4 x 2 nominated pairs. The cost is still $10.00. The prize money is some of the best on offer in the region. The Lucky Number raffles will be back again. The game commences at 12.30pm. So, to be part of what has become one of the great Social Bowling days place you teams names on the entry sheets at the Bowls Office notice boards. Visitors and single entries are most welcome to play. If you are a visitor or single entry, please provide your contact telephone number when placing your names on the entry sheets.

Hahn Superdry Tournament.

The Hahn Superdry Tournament will be held at the Golf Club this coming Wednesday and Thursday the 11th and 12th of March. The games commence around 9.30am. Why not come down and watch the action, while enjoying something to eat from the Sandwedge and a beverage from the bar. In next week’s report, we’ll be providing a comprehensive wrap up of the tournament.

YMGCR end of season function.

The YMGCR Bowls Section will be celebrating what has been another successful season on Sunday the 29th of March at the lagoon. There will be a BBQ lunch provided, with beverages on hand at member’s prices. The day commences at 12.00pm and the entertainment will begin at 12.30pm. The organising committee would ask that those members attending could you please bring along a plate, either dessert, or salad, which would be a terrific help with the catering. Significant others are welcome to attend. Name sheets are now on the notice boards at the Bowls Office. This should be a great day, so if you intend coming along, could you place your name, and your partners name, if they are coming with you, on the name sheets as soon as possible to assist with catering.
