Wednesday Social Bowls Report.
The continuing fine weather saw another encouraging muster of 44 players for Wednesday’s social bowls. The format was 3 bowls nominated pairs played over 22 ends. Games, on both greens, were played in the north – south orientation. Green speeds were around 13.5 seconds, not bad, considering the level of moisture, just below the surface. Finding conditions to their liking were first prize winners, Garry Seamer and Greg Green, who played Ray Brown and Ian Febey on rink 1. Garry and Greg shared $100.00 and a drink card each.
Second prize went to the team of Merv Hannaford and Phil Thorne, from Katandra West, who played Peter Verlardo and Trevor Kilpatrick on rink 10. Merv and Phil shared $50.00 prize money.
The losing rink consolation prize of $30.00 was shared by Kim Silver and Simone McBain who played against Karen Bianco and Keith Eade on rink 3.
The first Lucky Number raffle prize of $40.00 was won by Hayden Beca and the second Lucky Number raffle prize of $20.00 was won by Barb Tennyson.

Friday Social Bowls Report.
Was it just me; or was there a definite hint of spring in the air last Friday. The fine and warm weather saw another strong showing of 48 players turnout for Friday Social Bowls. The format was the usual 2 x 4 x 2 nominated pairs, and games were played in the east – west orientation.
Yarrawonga Bowling Club’s Peter McKay and Shane Maddox blazed their way to first prize of $100.00 and a drink card each, on rink 5, where their opponents were Karen Bianco and Ron Lamson.
Sue Evans and Bruce Davies filled the second winning rink spot playing on rink 12 against Michelle Thomas and Terry Cartwright. Sue and Bruce’s good bowls saw them take home $60.00.
The losing rink consolation prize was won by the Katandra West combo of Merv Hannaford and Steve Jones. Merv and Steve shared $40.00. Their opponents, on rink 14, were Les Wilson and Greg Fisher. While rink 14 is known by some as Siberia, it clearly has been a lucky rink over the last few weeks, with several winners finding playing on rink 14 has its rewards.
The first Lucky Number prize of $40.00 was won by Greg Fisher. The second Lucky Number prize, also $40.00, was won by Hayden Beca.

Sunday Funday Social Bowls.
Sunday’s fine, late winter weather saw 20 players enjoy this week’s edition of Sunday Funday social bowls. The format for the afternoon’s play was two games of pairs; each game played over 7 ends.
The afternoon’s play was preceded by the draw to the spider competition, where players play one bowl to the spider, with the closest bowls winning the prizes. This week’s closest bowl was delivered by Terry Cartwright, who won $5.00 cash and a selection of sweets.
The first prize was won by the team of Karen Bianco and Michael Szabo who shared $40.00. Karen and Michael played on rink 10, where their opponents were Fred Donaldson and Hayden Beca.
The runners up prize of $20.00 was won by the combo of Les Wilson and David Irvine, who played Greg Green and Bruce Davie on rink 12.
The losing consolation prize went to the team of Hayden Beca and Fred Donaldson. Hayden and Fred won $10.00, and their opponents on rink 10 were the aforementioned Karen Bianco and Michael Szabo.
The first Lucky Number prize of $20.00 was won by Ron Lamson and the second Lucky Number raffle prize of $10.00 was won by Garry Seamer.
