Mid – Week Pennant.

It was the local derby last Tuesday when the A1s made the trip to the other end of Belmore St. to play Yarrawonga. And considering that Yarrawonga enjoyed the home ground advantage and went into the game in 2nd place on the ladder, it was a fantastic win for YMGCR. After the 63rd end was played it was YMGCR 59 shots and 12 points to Yarrawonga 57 shots and 2 points. Enjoying something of a convincing win were Laureen Smith (L), Ray Brown (2), Michael Vaughan (3), and Anne Miles (S), who won 28 shots to Yarrawonga 18 shots. Also enjoying a win, albeit a bit narrower margin than the Miles rink, were Rhonda Irvine (L), Chris Horne (2), Greg Green (3), and Ian Brimblecombe (S), who won 19 shots to Yarrawonga 18 shots. The A1s now find themselves in 6th place on the ladder, within striking distance of the final four, should things go their way after the Christmas break. When pennant resumes, on the 21st of January, the A1s host Corowa Civic at the Golf Club.

The A2s played St. James, at St. James, last Tuesday and it was a clean sweep for the visitors. YMGCR Bowls Christmas Party.

The Bowlers had their Christmas breakup party in the Willow Room on Thursday the 12th of December. The evening was a night to remember, and it was indeed a tribute to our hard working Social Committee. The food and the company were second to none, and the seating arrangements were well thought out. Vicki Withers and Lynne Baxter did a lot of the heavy lifting, ensuring the night was a success. Jodi Powell put the hampers together; thank you Jodi they looked fantastic. Jill Lamson liaised with Rich Glen for the other raffle prizes; well done Jill. Bruce Poulter provided the evening’s entertainment and had a lot of the crowd on the dance floor. Celia Milne, accompanied by Liliana Borwick wowed the crowd with their rendition of Silent Night. Thank you to YMGCR President Andrew Shell, and his wife Mandy, for attending the evening, also thank you to YMGCR Vice President Jason Williams for also attending.
