Wednesday Social Bowls Report.
Last Wednesday’s fine weather saw a terrific turnout of 44 players enjoying the afternoon’s game. The playing numbers have held up really well during winter, which is a feather in cap for the Wednesday organisers; well done gents. Bowls were played in the north – south direction across both greens. The pace of the greens was pleasantly surprising considering the recent frosts and cold ground temperatures. Congratulations to our new members Noelene and Joe Borg who walked away with first prize of $100.00 and a drink card each. Noelene and Joe plied their trade on rink 2, where their opponents were Gavin Borwick and Dave Charrington. The winning rink runners up were Judy Leeson and Lynne Baxter who shared $50.00. Judy and Lynne played Laureen Smith and Greg Green on rink 14. The losing rink consolation prize of $30.00 went to the lads from Katandra West, Merv Hannaford and Glenn Doyle. Merv and Glenn’s opponents on rink 6 were Ian Febey and Michael Szabo. The first Lucky Number prize of $40.00 was won by Laureen Smith and the second Lucky Number prize of $20.00 was won by Ian Febey.
Friday Social Bowls Report.
As with Wednesday’s social game, this Friday’s edition of Social Bowls saw a stunning turnout of 48 players, and as with Wednesdays this is a wonderful endorsement of the Friday concept so, well done to Friday organising team. The weather was fine; the greens ran well considering the amount of moisture just below the surface of the grass. Bringing their best bowls to the fore on rink 7 were the day’s big winners Neil Hamilton and Steve Murphy, from Yarrawonga Bowls Club who shared $100.00 and a drink card each. Neil and Steve’s opponents were Gavin Borwick and Dave Charrington. The winning rink runners up were Ray Brown and Ian Febey who played against Barb Tennyson and Norm Windebank on rink 11. Ray and Ian shared $50.00 for their efforts. The losing rink consolation prize of $20.00 was won by Robbie Wickham and Peter McKay, from Yarrawonga Bowls Club, who played on rink 12 against Jo Woods and Graham. The first Lucky Number prize of $30.00 and a drink card was won by Mick Reilly. The second Lucky Number prize of $20.00 was won by Joe Borg.
Sunday Funday Social Bowls.
28 bowlers enjoyed Sunday’s fine weather for this week’s instalment of Sunday Funday Bowls. The concept for the day’s play was two games of single entry pairs. Each game played over 7 ends. The afternoon got underway with the traditional draw to the spider competition which was won by Les Wilson who won a selection of sweets and $5.00 cash. The second closest bowl to the spider was Mick Crawford’s bowl. Mick won a bottle of wine, which was kindly donated by Jill and Ron Lamson. The first prize of $60.00 was won by Greg Green and Norm Moule who played on rink 6, where their opponents were Lynne Baxter and Deb Rodgers. The winning rink runners up prize of $40.00 was won by Denise Trubiano and Neil Loveridge. Denise and Neil played on rink 5, where their opponents were Jill Lamson and Barb Tennyson. The losing rink consolation prize, of $10.00 was shared by Kim Silver and Trevor Kilpatrick, who played Neville Coleman and Craig Jordan on rink 7. The first Lucky Number prize of a pork roast was won by Hayden Beca. The second Lucky Number prize of a soup pack was won by Chris Morrissy, and the third lucky Number prize of a fruit pack was won by Mick Crawford. Our sincere thanks go to Woolworths Yarrawonga who generously donated the Lucky Number raffle prizes.
