Wednesday Social Bowls Report.
Threatening skies and the forecast for rain in the afternoon didn’t deter too many bowlers from participating last Wednesday, the 19th of August. This was reflected in a solid showing of 46 players. Games were played across both greens in the north – south orientation.
Finding conditions to their liking, on rink 2, were Nicole and Noel Smith who walked away with the first prize of $100.00 and a drink card each. Nicole and Noel’s opponents on rink 2 were Deb Rodgers and Karen Guymer.
The second winning rink prize was won by the team of Terry Cartwright and Julian Jones, who won $50.00 for their efforts. Terry and Julian’s opponents, on rink 2, were Merv Hannaford, from Katandra West and Phil Thorne from Shepparton.
The losing rink consolation prize was won by the combo of Garry Seamer and Bruce Davie, who won $30.00 Garry and Bruce’s opposition on rink 1 were Tony Forester and Keith Eade.
The first Lucky Number raffle prize was won by Karen Guymer, who selection of number 74 saw her win $30.00 Greg Fisher won the second Lucky Number prize of $20.00 with his selection of number 31.
Friday Social Bowls Report.
Fine weather, on Friday, brought bowlers out in force where 52 players enjoyed the conditions and the 2 x 4 x 2 nominated pairs format. The orientation of play was east – west and greens speeds were around 13 seconds.
Greeting the judges, in first place, were Liliana Borwick and Laureen Smith who played Lynne Baxter and Mick Reilly on rink 12. Liliana and Laureen won $100.00 and a drink card each.
The winners’ runners up prize of $70.00 was shared by Gavin Borwick and Dave Charrington. Gavin and Dave’s opponents, on rink 6, were Peter Taylor and John Shaw.
The losing rink consolation prize was won by Karen Guymer and Deb Rodgers. Karen and Deb played Terry Baxter and Rob Hummel on rink 7. Karen and Deb won $40.00. Our thanks go to Terry Baxter and Rob Hummel, who filled in when called on Friday morning.
The first Lucky Number prize of $25.00 was won by Robert, (Bluey) Watts, from Yarrawonga Bowls Club. The second Lucky Number raffle prize, also $25.00 was won by Bob Brokenshire. Just a reminder that there are only 5 instalments of Friday Social Bowls left for 2026. Friday Social’s last day is Friday the 25th of September. Demand for places has been extremely strong this year, so, to avoid missing out on the last 5 weeks play, please make sure you have your names on the entry sheets, at the Bowls Office promptly to avoid missing out.
Sunday Funday Social Bowls.
A foggy morning transformed into a fine, and sunny afternoon for this week’s edition of Sunday Funday Social Bowls. 24 players enjoyed conditions on the west green, which was the arena for the afternoon’s play.
The draw to the spider icebreaker, was won by Noel Smith who won $5.00 Hayden Beca’s bowl was oh! so close but just missed out on the prize.
The winners of this week’s first prize were the team of Chris Morrissy and Ross Lloyd, who won $50.00. Ross and Chris’ opponents, on rink 5, were Karen Guymer and Ray Brown. It’s good to see Ross back on the green after a hiatus from bowls. Welcome back, Ross.
The second winning rink prize of $30.00 was won by the combo of Sue Beca and Mark Dorman. Sue and Mark played Nicole Smith and Greg Green on rink 4. Sue’s teammate for the afternoon, Mark Dorman, is a visitor to Yarrawonga, from Coomealla NSW, which is just north of Mildura. Welcome to YMGCR Mark, we hope you enjoyed your afternoon.
The losing rink consolation prize was won by the team of Karen Bianco and Norm Windebank, who played Hayden Beca and Fred Donaldson on rink 7. Karen and Norm shared $10.00 prize money.
The first Lucky Number raffle prize of $15.00 was won by Karen Bianco, and the second Lucky Number raffle prize of $10.00 was won by Ron Lamson.
