YMGCR BOWLS CLUB

Joe Wing.

It is with sadness that we report the sudden death of Joe Wing. Joe suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away on the 28th of December at the age of 82. Prior to falling ill, Joe had enjoyed Christmas with his family. Joe was a popular club member with a ready sense of humour. Joe came to bowls later in life after moving to the Yarrawonga Mulwala district. Joe hadn’t been bowling for some time due to a back condition. Joe made a considerable contribution to sport and sporting administration over many years including the presidency of North Heidelberg Football Club. Professionally Joe owned Wing Shoe manufacturing, based in Heidelberg. Joe will be missed by his many friends at YMGCR Bowls. To Joe’s family we pass on our sincere condolences. Joe’s funeral will be held at 11.00 am on Thursday the 4th of January at Yarrawonga Mulwala Funerals 67 Ely Street. Yarrawonga.

Ladies & Men’s Club Championships Singles Finals.

The finals of the Ladies & Men’s Club Championship Finals will be held on Sunday the 7th of January with both games commencing at 10.00 am. Both matches should be well worth watching and I’d encourage all members to attend. The Ladies Final will be between Laureen Smith and Jan Morton, and should be a hotly contested affair, as will be the Men’s Final between Jimmy LeFevre and Micheal Vaughan. Why not come along and enjoy some great bowls and a drink with friends after the games.

Resumption of Mid – Week & Weekend Pennant.

Mid – Week Pennant resumes on Tuesday the 23rd of January and Weekend Pennant resumes on Saturday the 20th of January. Please ensure that you attend training prior to the first matches. Additionally, if you are unavailable for any matches, please place your name on the availability lists at the Bowls Office.

The East Green.

The East Green is looking good after it’s renovation. The green should be available for play on, or about the 15th of January.
