YMGCR BOWLS CLUB
Wednesday Social Bowls.
20 Bowlers participated on the 19th of July for Wednesday Social. All games were played on the west green which ran very well. Winners on the day were Pam Dodman (S) and Neville Coleman (L). They won the day well with 2 wins and plus 17 shots. Runners up were the team of Albert Dodman (S) and Norm Windebank (L) with 2 games won and plus 14 shots they ran Pam and Neville a very close second. The lucky number winner was Gary Hart.
Wednesday Social Bowls Jackpot.
The jackpot didn’t go off on Wednesday and this week jumps to $120.00 be sure to put your names down for Wednesday Social to be in the running for the money. Just a reminder that visitors to Yarrawonga – Mulwala and bowlers from surrounding clubs are most welcome for both Wednesday and Friday Social games. Make sure you place your name on the Social Bowls Sheets at the bowls office.
Friday Social Bowls.
A strong showing of 40 bowlers participated on Friday the 21st of July. The winners on the day were the pairing of Tony Durkin and Trevor Kilpatrick, well done gentlemen. The runners up were Anthony Clota and Paul Wellington; good to see the visitors in amongst the winnings. The lucky loser consolation prize went to the team of Bill Hidson and Frankie Lieberg. Drink cards were won by Kerry Merrett and Mel Garth. Good to see visitors to Yarrawonga, and friends from surrounding clubs enjoying the day. The Bernborough award: most of you would have heard of Bernborough the famous Australian racehorse who captured the imagination and hearts of Australians during the dark years of World War 2. Bernborough was famous for his stirring come from behind wins. Greg Green and Ray Brown don’t quite capture the hearts, or minds, of Australians, but they did pull off a stirring last end win after trailing all day. The boys were 5 down coming to the last end. They drew six shots to win by one shot overall. Nice work gents! Till next week good bowling.
