YMGCR BOWLS CLUB
Mid – Week Pennant.
The A1’s journeyed to Benalla and walked off the green having all rinks up, and more importantly all rinks winning well. Final sores saw YMGCR 73 shots and 14 points to Benalla 35 shots and 0 points. Having a field day were Ian Febey (L), Shirley Hummel (2), Rob Hummel (3), and Ray Irvine (S), who put their opponents to the sword 26 shots to Benalla’s 11 shots. Although this was a great away win, looking ahead, there is no room for complacency as the A1’s are in 6th place and only 6 points above bottom side Corowa Civic on 55 points.
The A2’s played host to Club Mulwala and in a tight match managed to come away with a solid win; YMGCR 57 shots and 12 points to Club Mulwala 53 shots and 2 points. Winning in style for YMGCR was the rink of Lynne Baxter (L), Marcia McGrillen (2), Pam Dodman (3), and Dod Dodman (S) 25 shots to Club Mulwala 10 shots. This latest win sees the A2’s in 4th place on the ladder.
The A3’s played host to Club Mulwala and not to be outdone by the A2’s sent the visitors home empty handed. It was a terrific win for the hosts; YMGCR 65 shots and 14 points to Club Mulwala 35 shots and 0 points. Streeting the opposition, with a great rink win, were Carolyn Boston (L), Jodi Powell (2), Jan Morton 3), and Bill Jenkins who won 20 shots to 9 shots. This latest win slots the A3’s into 7th place on the ladder.
Wednesday Social Bowls.
20 players enjoyed conditions on the west green on Wednesday the 24th of January. In 1st place were Norm Windebank (L) and Bob Fiddes (S). In second place were the combination of Don Tipping (L), and Gary Presnell (S). The Lucky Number winner was Frankie Lieberg. The Rolling Jackpot wasn’t claimed and this week the Jackpot has climbed to a very desirable $180.00 so for a chance to win the Jackpot, make sure you place your names on the list at the Bowls Office. Visitors for surrounding clubs and further afield are most welcome.
Weekend Pennant.
The A1’s travelled to Benalla and after the last bowl was delivered it was a strong win to YMGCR who boarded to bus home with 99 shots and 18 points to Benalla 53 shots and 0 points. This latest win sees the A1’s in 2nd place. The stars of the win were Ian Febey (L), Wayne Lowrie (2), Anne Miles (3), and Ian Brimblecombe (S), who had a rink win of 26 shots to Benalla 9 shots.
The A2’s travelled to Mansfield, which is probably one of the longest journey for a game of bowls, and unfortunately, they headed home having gone down 47 shots and 0 points to Mansfield 96 shots and 18 points. Norm Windebank (L), Cliff Morton (2), Vic Brincat (3), and Neil Loveridge (S), worked hard all day and went down narrowly 15 shots to their opponents 18 shots. The A2’s are now in 6th place on the ladder, with two games remaining.
The A4’s played host to the gang from the end of Belmore St. and the final result saw YMGCR 83 shots and 16 points to Yarrawonga 62 shots and 2 points. This latest win finds the A4’s in 4th place on the ladder. Leading the way for YMGCR were Robyn Forge (L), Jan Morton (2), Tony Durkin (3), and Marcia McGrillen 25 shots to their opponents 13 shots.
The YMGCR B2 team hosted Tungamah and the visitors had a convincing win. Final scores YMGCR 34 shots and 0 points to Tungamah 78 shots and 14 points. The B2’s season is delicately poised with their position on the ladder now 7th place. Until next week, good bowling.
