Weekend Pennant Report.

The resumption of pennant, after the Christmas break, saw an eagerly awaited A1 match with YMGCR hosting Corowa RSL at the Golf Course. This fixture had an added variable with the match being played on the east green, front and centre to the clubhouse deck. In a game which was played in good spirit, with the result always in the balance, it was YMGCR who emerged with the win. Final scores, YMGCR 86 shots and 14 points to Corowa RSL 76 shots and 4 points. Leading the way for the A1s were Rhonda Irvine (L), Ray Brown (2), Greg Green (3), and Julian Jones (S), who won as they pleased 29 shots to Corowa RSL 11 shots. Also contributing to the win were Colin Withers (L), Shirley Hummel (2), Michael Vaughan (3), and Ray Irvine (S), who won 21 shots to Corowa RSL 17 shots. The A1s are currently in 6th place on the ladder and next week travel to Wangaratta.

The A3s travelled to Bright and even though they boarded the bus, for the homeward journey, without the win they gave a good account of themselves. The final score saw Bright winning 75 shots and 15 points to YMGCR 67 shots and 3 points. Enjoying a solid rink win were Robyn Forge (L), Doug Wheeler (2), Bill Jenkins (3), and Bob Evans (S), who won 18 shots to Bright 15 shots. The A3s are in 4th place on the ladder and need to stay focused if they want to play finals. Next week, they entertain Beechworth at the Golf Club.

The A5s also had an away fixture, first up after the Christmas break, where they were entertained by Yackandandah. After an enthralling tussle it was the home side who won by the barest of margins, Yackandandah 53 shots and 12 points to YMGCR 52 shots and 2 points. Boarding the bus for the homeward journey, with two points securely in their pocket were, Bob Brokenshire (L), Vicki Withers (2), Bill Hidson (3), and Neville Coleman (S), who won 18 shots to Yackandandah 14 shots. The A5s are in 7th place on the ladder, and next week, host Wangaratta at the Golf Club.

Mid-Week Pennant Preview.

After an indifferent start to the season the A1s are now in 6th place on the ladder and not without some chance of participating in the finals. Between now and the end of the season they play Corowa Civic (h), Wangaratta (a), Wodonga (h), and Benalla (h). With three home games to finish the season the A1s would fancy their chances to bank at least a couple of wins from their remaining games.

The A2s are in 5th place on the ladder and if the cards fall their way, combined with a bit of good form, they would be disappointed if they did not participate in the finals. Looking ahead they play Wodonga (h), Wangaratta (a), Moira (h), and Dederang (h). As with the A1s they have three home fixtures out of their remaining games, and should be aiming for a coupe of wins from their last four games. Until next week, good bowling.
